Flood field, Leicester City vs Spurs match at Rajamangala Stadium Bangkok Cancelled
Bangkok, Todaysgist.com – The friendly match between Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur, which was planned to be held at Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium on Sunday 23 July, has been cancelled.
The reason is that the field was flooded after heavy rains ahead of it kickoff. The referee and the match organizer considered that the field condition was not possible for the match to be held.
“With the safety of the players in mind and the overall integrity of the game, the unavoidable decision to cancel the match was taken after extensive deliberation with the organizers of the event on the recommendation of the match referee,” Leicester City said in a statement.
“Leicester City would like to thank all the supporters who have followed the club in Bangkok, and regret that the game was deemed unsafe to resume under circumstances beyond the club’s control,” Leicester added.
Tottenham Hotspur also conveyed an apology to fans for this cancellation.
“We would like to thank all the supporters who have followed the Club in Thailand, and regret that it was deemed unsafe for the game to resume under circumstances beyond the Club’s control,” Tottenham wrote.
