Forms U-18 Women's Basketball National Team, Perbasi Holds National Selek

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The Central Management of the All-Indonesian Basketball Association (PP Perbasi) held a national selection (seleknas) for U-18 female players on March 22-24 2024 at GOR Merpati Bali. The national selection was to form the 5on5 Women's Basketball National Team to face the FIBA ​​U-18 Women's Asia Cup 2024 Division A in Senzhen, China, 24-30 June 2024.

Manager of the U-18 Women's Basketball National Team, Dedy Setiawan, said that there are two selection paths for the U-18 Indonesian National Team towards the 2024 FIBA ​​U-18 Women's Asia Cup. The first route is players scouting results from various championships that have taken place.

This line has 35 players. Then the second route is recommended players from Pengprov Perbasi throughout Indonesia. They will be selected simultaneously on March 22-24 2024.

“Later, players from these two paths will be selected simultaneously. “After selection it will be narrowed down to 16 to 18 players,” explained Dedy to journalists in Jakarta, Monday (18/3/2024).

It was said that this selection was taken because it was impossible for them to travel around Indonesia in the available time. On the other hand, his party also wants to maximize the potential in existing championships.

“The provincial administrators also cannot just send players. “We believe there are still many potential players in the regions so we are waiting for player input from the management in each region,” he said.

Dedy added that players who pass the selection will continue training at the training center (TC). The team will train until the tournament in China later.

“During TC we apply promotion and relegation. So the 18 names that passed the selection are not completely safe. “If his performance declines, he will be replaced with another player on the previous selection list,” concluded Dedy.
