Google releases first Chromecast with remote control and Google TV – Google officially markets its new Chromecast with Google TV in the Netherlands. With the small device, which is put in the back of the TV, people can use apps from streaming services such as Netflix, HBO Max and Videoland.
The Chromecast with Google TV was already released in various countries in 2020 and was already available through some importers in the Netherlands. Now Google itself is officially releasing it in the country.
The difference with older Chromecasts is that the new one can not only be used to stream images from a smartphone or tablet to the television. The box itself contains for the first time a complete TV interface with video services. Users can also install apps themselves. According to Google, there are now 6,500 apps and services available.
Google is also providing a remote control for navigating Google TV for the first time. The remote has buttons for Netflix and YouTube. In addition, there is a button for Google Assistant. By pressing it, it is possible to look up certain films or series.
The Chromecast can also be linked to various Smart Devices from Google. For example, the remote control can also be used to dim lamps or show images of the smart Nest doorbell on the TV.
The Chromecast offers images in 4K resolution and 60 frames per second. In addition, there is support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Audio. The device is from Tuesday 9.00 am for sale in the Google Store for 69.99 euros. From 21 June he will also appear at BCC.
