WhatsApp is working on ability to customize sent text messages

WhatsApp is working on a feature that allows users to customize sent text messages. That is what the usually well-informed website WABetaInfo claims.

The messaging service was also working on that capability five years ago, but ultimately decided not to introduce the feature. That would change now.

A screenshot of the feature on WABetaInfo shows the feature. How long users have time to adjust their text message, for example because there is a spelling error in it, is unclear.

WABetaInfo assumes for the time being that users cannot see what exactly has been adjusted in a message. But that may change at a later time, because the function is still under development.

The site emphasizes that the screenshot was taken from an Android phone, but that the feature should also be available for iOS and desktop. Whether and when the capability will be finally rolled out is unclear. Presumably, the function will first be tested among a select group of users.
