Kominfo approves the transfer of 2.3GHz frequency usage rights from Telkomsel to Smartfren

Previously, Smartfren had received additional spectrum allocation at the 2.3 GHz frequency. This additional spectrum allocation is obtained from frequency shifting after the rearrangement process is completed or refarming in March 2023.

It should be noted that the frequency arrangement process is carried out so that the spectrum blocks occupied by telecommunications operators coexist, so as to improve the quality and capacity of the cellular network.

Smartfren itself gets a frequency shift allocation of 10MHz which is useful to support quality improvement. This addition applies to the entire island of Sumatra, Riau Archipelago, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Bali, Lombok, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and Papua.

“With the completion of the frequency rearrangement and the allocation of this additional spectrum, Smartfren is more optimal in providing telecommunication services to the public,” said President Director of Smartfren Merza Fachys in an official statement received, Friday (28/4/2023).

Apart from additional frequency allocations, Smartfren has also carried out a number of other initiatives to improve the quality of telecommunications services. One of them is by accelerating the fiberization process or the installation of optical fiber.

According to Smartfren, fiberization is a technology that must be implemented to increase the capacity of telecommunications services, especially in areas that have high data traffic.

Not only that, Smartfren also continues to improve coverage the service. This was done by adding 4,000 BTS in all operational areas.
