– An educational and social activist figure in Malang, Sekarwati visited the former Indonesian national team goalkeeper and also Arema, Kurnia Meiga Hermansyah at his residence.

It is known that previously the former national team (timnas) goalkeeper uploaded several photos of medals and football attributes on his Instagram account for sale. The reason for the sale was due to Kurnia Meiga’s deteriorating health condition, so he decided to hang up his boots in 2017.

“As a football fan and representative of the Indonesian people who love sports heroes. This reminds us that we need heroes in any field including sports to raise the nation’s good name at the world level. One of them is Kurnia Meiga,” he told journalists Friday (19/5/2023) .

“A sad story of a former athlete who had to live a hard and sad life because of an accident that took away his health. This story reminds us that there is a big problem in handling the welfare of Indonesian athletes,” said Sekarwati, who does a lot of advocacy on a daily basis to empower women and young people. in various places.

Sekarwati was the first to respond and visit Kurnia Meiga after learning about the condition of the former Indonesian best player selling his medals, because he had no money to meet his daily needs.

“I will try to mediate the interests of my fellow athletes, especially those who have brought honor to the name of the nation, with the government and DPR RI,” said the Deputy Secretary General of the Golkar DPP.

Sekarwati hopes that the government will immediately pay attention to Indonesian athletes so that their welfare is guaranteed. Don’t let incidents like this dampen the enthusiasm of prospective athletes to grow.
