Man City Beats Arsenal, Guardiola: The Next Three Parties Will Decide
– Pep Guardiola confirmed that the next three matches will determine the Premier League title race after his team Manchester City beat Arsenal, 4-1, Thursday (27/4/2023) early morning WIB.
Despite the win, Man City remains in second place and two points behind Arsenal but with two games less advantage over their London rivals, The Citizens are now more likely to win.
Two goals from Kevin De Bruyne along with goals from John Stones and Erling Haaland cemented a dominant home display from Guardiola’s side. But the Man City manager quickly turned his attention to the important game ahead.
“I know the next three games are very important,” he told BT Sport.
Man City will meet Fulham, Sunday (30/4/2024). Next they will then play West Ham and Leeds. Guardiola said these three matches were crucial and would determine their fate this season.
“The reality today is we are behind Arsenal, they are two points ahead of us.”
Guardiola also praised the performance of his team which appeared dominant in this party. With success at the Etihad Stadium, Man City means winning 12 consecutive league games against Arsenal.
“From the first minute we were very focused,” said Guardiola.
“The players responded tremendously in an important match – not decisive, but very important,” he said.
“Our team plays with the mentality that there is no other choice but to win, that’s the best way to play. In the last two months, the players showed that every game we try to win and progress.”
Guardiola will now look to guide his side to their fifth league title in six years. He mentioned the support of the club’s board and the quality of his players as the key to success while he was in charge of Man City.
“I’ve been at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City. The incredible quality of the players I have – it’s the work ethic, the rest is quality.”
