Marketa Vondrousova Wins Wimbledon 2023 After Defeating Ons Jabeur

Unlike Marketa Vondrousova, Ons Jabeur looked heartbroken after losing the Wimbledon final. He sat in his chair with his head down.

“It was very, very difficult. The most painful defeat of my career,” said the sixth seed who is bidding to become the first African or Arab woman to win a Grand Slam title.

History was at stake for both tennis players, especially for Jabeur who has been a pioneer for African and Arab women. However, the Tunisian looked weighed down by high expectations.

Although both players flashed smiles for the cameras as they posed for pre-match photos, the nervousness was evident. Jabeur looked even more depressed than Vondrousova.

“It will be a tough day, but I will not give up. I will come back stronger,” said Jabeur, who has beaten four Grand Slam champions to reach another final.
