Persib Reveals Reasons for Luis Milla’s Resignation

– Persib Bandung announced the resignation of Luis Milla as Persib coach. This decision was made by the Spanish coach after Persib had yet to win in the opening three matches of the 2023/2024 League 1 season.

In the first game Persib drew 1-1 with Madura United. Then the score was 3-3 again won by Persib when they visited Arema FC headquarters. Most recently, Persib was held to a draw by their guest, Dewa United 2-2, Friday (14/7/2023).

Apart from Milla, two of his staff, namely Manuel Perez-Cascallana and Carlos Grande Rodriguez, also resigned from their positions.

Personal factors were the reason behind the 57-year-old trainer’s decision.

“To be able to solve this problem, Milla must return to Spain and devote all her attention and concentration. It is known that this problem has plagued Milla for a long time, but it has only recently been revealed which according to her is the best time so that the stability of the team in League 1 this season is maintained,” said Persib quoted from a statement on its official website, Saturday (15/7/2023).

Persib really respects the decision that Milla, Carlos and Manuel Cascallana have made.

“Persib would like to thank them for the dedication that the three have given so far. Under Milla’s tutelage, Persib is in third place in the 2022/2023 League 1 competition, after limping at the start of the season,” added Persib.

Under Milla’s tutelage, Maung Bandung finished third in Liga 1 last season after struggling at the start of the season.

Since his debut in charge of Persib against Rans Nusantara in the eighth week of the 2022/2023 League 1 competition, Luis Milla has managed to record 17 wins, 4 draws and 6 losses.

Furthermore, Persib appointed Yaya Sunarya to be the interim coach assisted by Bayu Eka Sari and Luizinho Passos. Persib will move as quickly and precisely as possible in finding a replacement coach.
