Messi Will Get a Salary of IDR 901.5 Billion Per Year at Inter Miami

– Inter Miami owner, Jorge Mas, says that Lionel Messi will earn between $50-60 million or around IDR 901.5 billion per year from his planned three-year contract at the MLS club.

Until now, the Inter Miami club has not officially confirmed the signing of the Argentine player. Currently, both parties are still trying to finalize the contract.

Only the last details remain before Messi officially joins Inter Miami. Messi is likely to make his debut in the League Cup clash on July 21 against Cruz Azul.

Messi’s contract will make him the highest-paid player in MLS. Currently Xherdan Shaqiri of the Chicago Fire is the most expensive player in MLS with an annual salary of $8.2 million.

Messi, of course, would earn upwards of $50-60 million a year, as he would also get a cut of profits from the league’s media rights deal with Apple and clothing deal with Adidas.

“(Negotiations lasted) for three years. A year and a half of intense negotiations. A lot of conversations with Jorge (Messi, Lionel’s father). I saw it finished at the end of May. Mas also discussed the other players linked with Inter Miami who have all played alongside Messi at Barcelona over a number of years.

Sergio Busquets has also been confirmed to join the MLS club, although his signing has yet to be made official.

“For us it is very important to surround Messi with players who are at his level. We have been talking with Busquets for about a year. He will be very important in the dressing room, especially for the academy players,” said Mas.

Inter Miami will bring in two or three more players. “We have spoken with Jordi Alba. (Luis Suárez) is still under contract, he has a release clause, and I don’t know if he will leave. We have also spoken with (Ángel) Di María, but it looks like he will sign elsewhere “All announcements will be made before July 15,” said Mas.
