Not only for the U-17 World Cup, the reason for the Central Government’s renovation of JIS

– The central government plans to renovate the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta, to be used as a venue for the FIFA U-17 World Cup which will take place from 10 November to 2 December 2023. Responding to this, the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo revealed the reasons behind the planned renovation of the stadium.

“In order to organize events which was attended by foreign and local guests, there are several notes that we must improve and perfect,” said Menpora Dito Ariotedjo at Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (2/7/2023).

According to Dito, even though JIS already has good and international standards, improvements are still needed to make it even better, especially in holding international events. One of the things of concern is the improvement of access and parking lots. Dito stressed the importance of ensuring there are no obstacles, such as parking access that should not be reserved for actual guests.

Meanwhile, Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono stated that Pemprov DKI Jakarta is ready to support the renovation of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) to meet the standards of hosting the U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.

“Later we will inspect the field with the Minister of BUMN and Minister of PUPR,” said Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono to reporters at the entrance to the Southwest Monas, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (2/7/2023).

Heru added that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will focus on adding parking pockets, access to parking lots, and access to the JIS stadium.

“We will make an exit route on the side of the katel bridge and also a path behind the stadium,” he explained.
