Not the English League or Champions League, the 2023/2024 League Cup title is the most special for Klopp

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Liverpool coach, Juergen Klopp, appreciated his team's success in winning the 2023/2024 English League Cup (Carabao Cup or EFL Cup) by beating Chelsea in the final at Wembley Stadium, Sunday (25/2/2024).

Klopp called the 2023/2024 English League Cup title the most special trophy in his career. The Reds achieved a 1-0 victory through Virgil van Dijk's header at the end of extra time in the second half.

Without a number of key players, such as Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Klopp trusted young players who graduated from the academy, such as Conor Bradley, Harvey Elliott, Bobby Clark, James McConnell, Jayden Danns and Jarell Quansah.

“In more than 20 years, this is the most special trophy I have ever won. Truly great,” said Klopp in the post-match press conference, quoted by the Associated Press.

Klopp enjoyed the moment and emphasized that he was focused on the moment with Liverpool's young players. Despite winning a number of trophies throughout his career, Klopp considers this League Cup to be a special lasting memory.

“I'm not thinking about my personal legacy. I'm here without considering that. This has nothing to do with whether this might be my last game at Wembley,” said Klopp.

“The most important thing for me is seeing the expressions on the children's faces. For me, this is a beautiful moment that will always be remembered,” concluded Klopp.

Since taking charge of Liverpool in October 2015, the German coach has succeeded in bringing eight trophies to Liverpool, including the Champions League (2018/2019), UEFA Super Cup (2019), FIFA Club World Cup (2019), English League (2019/2020) , FA Cup (2021/2022), Community Shield (2022), and English League Cup (2021/2022 and 2023/2024).

Klopp also took Liverpool to two other Champions League finals, 2018 and 2022, both of which were lost to Real Madrid. The former Borussia Dortmund coach also took the Reds to the 2016 Europa League final, and finished second in the Premier League twice (2018/2019 and 2022/2023).

This season, Liverpool still has the opportunity to win three other trophies, namely the English League, Europa League and FA Cup.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's success in becoming champions of the 2023/2024 English League Cup means that the club from Merseyside has collected 10 trophies in the tournament. Liverpool also successfully beat Manchester City (eight titles) who won four finals in a row in the period 2018 to 2021.

Last season's champions, Manchester United, have won six Premier League Cups, with four won during Alex Ferguson's reign. Meanwhile, Chelsea, who lost in the 2023/2024 final, has lifted the English League Cup trophy five times, with the last time winning it in 2013/2014 during the second period of leadership of The Special One, Jose Mourinho.
