Potential Athletes Outside Java Appear at PB Djarum 2023 General Audition

– The general audition for PB Djarum 2023 is entering its fifth day at the Djarum Sports Hall, Jati, Kudus, Central Java. In the final stages of the tournament this time, a number of young athletes showed their game potential. This year, PB Djarum’s general audition was different from the previous year, where athletes from outside Java started to appear until the final stage.

This was revealed by Haryanto Arbi, one of the talent search teams, while monitoring PB Djarum’s general audition on Thursday (6/7/2023). According to the badminton legend of the 90s, the 2023 public audition looks different from the previous year. Now, a number of athletes from outside Java are starting to reach the final audition stage.

Haryanto Arbi, the owner of Smash 100 watts, stated that usually at the end of the general audition, the majority of athletes come from Java Island. However, currently athletes from Eastern Indonesia, such as Asmat in South Papua, Samarinda and Balikpapan, are also starting to compete to get PB Djarum scholarships.

“The potential is good, because now it’s evenly distributed. I see some good ones from Asmat, Samarinda, Balikpapan, starting to be evenly distributed from outside the island and they have started to compete. Previously it was only from Java, now it has started to spread,” said Haryanto Arbi, badminton legend Indonesia which is the product of PB Djarum’s upbringing.

He believes that this year there are many talented participants from all over the archipelago who have the potential to be developed further.

Even so, PB Djarum’s public audition faced difficulties in exploring the potential of the thousands of participants who registered. Accuracy and focus are required to observe each series from the selection to the tournament stages of athletes from all over Indonesia, with a total of 1,529 participants.

“This has its own challenges for the talent search team, sometimes there are those who are just learning and join them. The opponents are already good, so their potential cannot be seen easily, that is the difficulty,” he explained.

However, together with other talent scouting teams, they have recorded a number of names of participants who have the potential to get super tickets. However, further evaluation will still be carried out at the final stage of the tournament.

“Regarding super tickets, several names have been recorded to be evaluated with other talent search teams,” he said.

Chairman of PB Djarum, Yoppy Rosimin, previously emphasized that there was no limit to the number of participants who could enter the quarantine stage in the PB Djarum 2023 general audition. They would continue further screening during the quarantine period.
