PP PBSI Releases Indonesian Squad for 2024 Thomas and Uber Cup, There is a Surprise in the Women's Team

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – PP PBSI has called 10 male and female athletes each to strengthen the team for the 2024 Thomas and Uber Cups. This most prestigious team tournament will take place from April 27 to May 5 in Chengdu, China.

“In both the Thomas and Uber Cups, the selection of players was based on the results of discussions with the coaches and also Christian (Hadinata),” said PP PBSI's Head of Development and Achievement, Ricky Soebagdja.

“How is daily life at national training, current conditions and performance in the last few matches.” added Ricky.

For the Thomas Cup, Indonesia fielded the best strength. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, and Alwi Farhan entered the singles number. Meanwhile, Fajar Alfian, Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Bagas Maulana, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Leo Rolly Carnando, and Daniel Marthin competed in the doubles number.

“The Thomas and Uber Cups are very important team tournaments and looking at their journey, specifically in the Thomas Cup we can become champions in 2021 in Aarhus, Denmark, and became finalists two years ago in Bangkok, Thailand. This year, the Thomas team fielded the best strength so that we can fight and regain that proud supremacy,” said Ricky.

“After the Race to the Olympics is finished, the next target is the Thomas Cup before it culminates in the Olympics,” said Ricky.
