Erick Thohir Expresses Appreciation from the Argentine Football Association

The general chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir, said that the Argentine Football Association (AFA) appreciated Indonesia after the FIFA Matchday match.

Erick revealed, AFA gave a positive response because from the start Indonesia was able to welcome the Argentina national team well. In fact, Indonesia was able to prepare charter aircraft to welcome the Argentina squad in China.

“From the Argentine side, I really appreciate it, because when there were difficulties in transportation from China to Indonesia, they were taken by ordinary commercial planes, even though there were agreement charter flights. They have to sit with other passengers, they are very upset (disappointed, red). They contact us, we immediately prepare charter flights, even though paid. It’s not bad that Garuda was paid to carry the Argentine national team. So we prepare, they appreciate it,” said Erick Thohir at the Danareksa Tower, Jakarta, Friday (23/6/2023).

Before facing the Indonesian national team, Argentina did go to China first to play against Australia. While in the Bamboo Curtain country, Lionel Scaloni’s team is known to have felt uncomfortable several times because of the actions of fans in that country.

One of them, when hundreds of fans surrounded the Argentina national team hotel in Beijing. It is known that the majority of them are fans of Lionel Messi who was brought to fight Australia.
