Puan Alluded to the Achievements of the U-22 National Team at the SEA Games at the Plenary Meeting

– Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament Puan Maharani alluded to the success of the Indonesian U-22 national team which won gold in the 2023 SEA Games football at the Plenary Meeting, Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (19/5/2023).

The agenda for this plenary meeting was the Government’s submission of the Macroeconomic Framework and Principles of Fiscal Policy (KEM and PPKF) of the 2024 State Budget for Fiscal Year represented by the Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani.

“This success ends the long wait of 32 years, which has been rewarded thanks to hard work squad Garuda in the final match against Thailand,” said Puan Maharani who chaired the plenary session.

At the SEA Games in Cambodia, Indonesia was ranked third with 87 gold, 80 silver and 109 bronze medals. Puan also expressed her high appreciation as well as congratulations to all Indonesian contingents for the achievements that have been achieved.

“We are all proud of the achievements that have been achieved by the nation’s best sons and daughters and made the nation proud at the biggest sporting event in Southeast Asia,” said the grandson of Indonesian Proclaimer Bung Karno.

Regarding KEM and PPKF RAPBN RAPBN 2024, Puan reminded that general policies and budget priorities should be used as a reference for each ministry or agency in preparing the budget as well as details of organizational units, functions and programs.

In accordance with Article 167 paragraph (1) DPR RI Regulation Number 1 of 2020, the DPR factions will provide views on the material submitted by the government regarding KEM and PPKF of the RAPBN. This view will be presented at the plenary meeting on May 23.

“Therefore, we ask all factions to be able to prepare the views of their respective factions,” said Puan.

As is well known, the government is targeting a state revenue and expenditure budget deficit in 2024 of 2.16-2.64% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) related to KEM and PPKF in the 2024 RAPBN. This target is getting smaller than the 2023 APBN deficit which is targeted at 2.84 percent.

The target set by the government is also due to considerations of the current global developments. Among them are escalating geopolitical conflicts, world inflation which is very high, causing global interest rates to rise and reopening lockdown China.
