SEA Games: Indra Sjafri Will Continue Rotating Players

– The coach of the Indonesian U-22 national team, Indra Sjafri, emphasized that he would continue to rotate even though his troops performed well by crushing Myanmar, 5-0, Thursday (5/5/2023).

According to the coach from West Sumatra, rotation will continue to be carried out to find the composition of the 11 best core players who will be installed when the Indonesian national team passes to the semifinals and even to the final of the SEA Games football branch.

“Rotation to seek dreamteam. That’s why we will continue to do it. Periodization peaked in the semifinals and finals,” added the former Bali United coach.

Indonesia paved the way to the semifinals after winning 5-0 over Myanmar in their second match in Group A. Indonesia’s goals were scored by Marselino Ferdinan, Ramadhan Sananta (2 goals), Fajar Fathur Rahman and Titan Agung.

According to Indra, the 5-0 victory in this party was in accordance with the programmed plan.

“The results were according to plan. Likewise with the rotation of players. Everything went well. The game break which was quite long (four days red) was also very influential,” said Indra Sjafri after the match at the Olympic Stadium, Phnom Penh.

In the match against Myanmar, Indra played a number of different players when compared to facing the Philippines, one of which was Fajar Fathur Rahman, who also scored another goal in this match.

Three points over Myanmar, brought Indonesia to lead the Group A standings with six points from two matches. In the first match, the Red and White Team also beat the Philippines, 3-0. Meanwhile, hosts Cambodia are in second place in Group A standings with four points from two matches.

Indra Sjafri’s troops still have two matches remaining in Group A, namely against Timor Leste, Sunday (7/5). While in the last match of the elimination round, Indonesia will face the host Cambodia, Wednesday (10/5).

“From the two matches, there are still many mistakes that must be corrected. That’s why we keep trying to find the best players,” said Indra again.
