Barcelona, Beritasatu.com – After the departure of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba to Inter Miami, Barcelona has a new captain. The players agreed to appoint Sergi Roberto as the new captain La Blaugrana.
Previously, apart from Sergi, goalkeepers Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong were also nominated.
However, it was decided that Sergi Roberto would be the captain of Barca, with Ter Stegen as vice-captain.
Sergi Roberto is the defender with the longest tenure at Barca. The player who was born on February 7, 1992 plays primarily as a wing-back but can play in the central midfield, defensive midfield or wing midfield positions.
Having defended Barcelona B in 2009, Sergi Roberto was promoted to the Barcelona senior team in 2010.
During his time at Barcelona, the 31-year-old player won two La Liga titles (2010/11, 2012/13), the Spanish King’s Cup (2011/2012), the Spanish Super Cup (2010, 2013), and the UEFA Champions League (2010–11).
