Stamp Faces His Own Colleague, Tawanchai Takes on an Old Enemy

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Two World Championship matches featuring Stamp Fairtex and Tawanchai PK Saenchai have been confirmed for One 167 on Saturday (8/6/2024).

Three-sport world champion Stamp will defend her atomweight MMA World Champion title against her friend and former teammate, Denice Zamboanga at Impact Arena, Bangkok.

Going back, both Stamp and Zamboanga became close friends while undergoing training sessions together at the Fairtex Training Center. However, everything changed when the second top contender moved gyms at the end of 2020.

Zamboanga's move from the Fairtex gym also confirmed his desire to fight Stamp in the future, which became a reality in the fight for the MMA gold belt currently held by the Thai star.

Stamp initially earned a World Title shot by winning the One Women's Atomweight MMA World Grand Prix silver belt in 2021. After losing in her first attempt against Angela Lee, the 26-year-old star went on a two-fight win streak in MMA before defeating Ham Seo Hee for the untitled belt. master when Angela entered retirement last September.

An epic knockout win over Ham made Stamp the first three-sport ONE World Champion in history, having previously held the reigns of Muay Thai and atomweight kickboxing.

Meanwhile, Zamboanga's eight-fight win streak was snapped after she fell via a pair of judges' decisions at the hands of Ham in 2021 and 2022. However, she bounced back with a pair of wins over Lin Heqin and Julie Mezabarba to cement her spot as the next challenger for Stamp.

Apart from Stamp, Tawanchai will also defend his featherweight Muay Thai World Champion title in a rematch against fellow Thai star, Jo Nattawut.

At One Championship, Tawanchai has looked unstoppable in his latest series of exploits. He successfully recorded a position of 8-1 with seven consecutive wins and five knockouts.

The PK Saenchai representative won the Muay Thai featherweight world title in September 2022, and defended it twice after that. One of them was even achieved by defeating the legendary striker, Superbon Singha Mawynn, last December.

However, Nattawut is one of the opponents who has pressured Tawanchai. He fought the World Champion on short notice last October, and successfully forced Tawanchai to work hard to win the judges' decision after three rounds of their kickboxing action.

The Thai veteran returned to winning ways with an emphatic performance against Luke Lessei last December, and he hopes to carry that momentum into the biggest action of his career next June.
