Sugiono is Proud of the Kun Bokator Team to Win 3 Gold in the 2023 SEA Games

– Chairman of the Gerindra faction in the MPR who is also the general chairman of the Indonesian Bokator Sugiono said he was proud of the achievements of the Indonesian team of bokators who successfully bought 3 gold, 5 silver and 13 bronze at the 2023 SEA Games. This sport was held at the Chroy Changvar Convention Center Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Monday (8/5/2023).

Sugiono expressed his gratitude to all the athletes who presented brilliant achievements for the nation.

“Bokator is one of the four new sports at the 2023 SEA Games, we are grateful that the athletes were able to win,” said Sugiono in his statement, Wednesday (10/5/2023).

According to the former deputy Prabowo Subianto, kun bokator is a traditional Cambodian martial arts sport. As host of the 2023 SEA Games, Cambodia has the right to add several new sports to be competed in at the ASEAN countries’ Games.

“Indonesia’s proud achievement has won 3 gold, 5 silver and 13 bronze medals from the kun bokator branch at the 2023 SEA Games, even though kun bokator is still very common in the country,” said Sugiono.

Sugiono added that in terms of sports diplomacy, Cambodia really supports pencak silat. For this reason, Indonesia should also support the kun bokator sport.

“Cambodia supports pencak silat which originates from Indonesia, so we support kun bokator which originates from Cambodia. We hope that with this, more and more indigenous martial arts sports from Southeast Asia will be recognized so that the sporting achievements, especially martial arts, of ASEAN countries can be on par with other countries. other Asian countries,” said Sugiono.
