Young Indonesian Badminton Player Ruzana Champion at Sri Lanka International

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Indonesian young women's singles badminton player Ruzana won the 2024 Sri Lanka International Series tournament at the Galle Indoor Stadium, Sri Lanka, Sunday (18/2/2024).

Ruzana became champion after defeating Malaysian representative Siti Zulaikha 21-19, 21-15.

“I'm definitely happy because this is my first title in two years. The opponent played quite well, but I managed to control the game. “In the final points I was also braver to attack and put pressure on him,” said Ruzana.

The 18 year old athlete said that this victory would be additional motivation for him when participating in other tournaments in the future.

“I want to be better than before. This title is certainly additional motivation, but I don't want to burden myself too much. “The most important thing is that I have to go all out in every tournament I participate in,” said the women's singles ranked 166th in the world.

Ruzana's journey to reach the final was marked by quite dynamic competition. In the semifinals of the Sri Lanka International, the third seed met fellow Indonesian women's singles player, Deswanti Rainsih Nurtertiati and won 21-17, 21-15.

Ruzana has the opportunity to meet another Indonesian representative, Chiara Marvella Handoyo. However, Chiara was defeated by Siti Zulaikha (Malaysia) 13-21, 21-15, 14-21.

With this, there are three young Indonesian women's singles standing on the podium in the Sri Lanka International Series 2024. Ruzana won the gold medal, and Deswanti and Chiara with the bronze medal.

On the other hand, there is another Indonesian representative who entered the final round of the Sri Lanka International Series 2024 today, namely men's doubles Reza Dwicahya Purnama/Rian Canna Varo.

However, Reza/Rian had to admit the superiority of Thai representatives Sirawit Sothon/Natthapat Trinkajee 19-21, 7-21.
