BATC 2024 Sharpens the Skills and Mentality of Young Athletes

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – PP PBSI's Head of Development and Achievement Division, Rionny Mainaky, said that the 2024 Asian Team Badminton Championship (BATC) was an event to hone the skills and mentality of Indonesia's junior and young athletes. Unfortunately, in this tournament, Indonesia failed to bring home the championship title.

“Thankfully, with the strengthening of secondary and young players, Indonesia became a semifinalist in the women's team and a quarter-finalist in the BATC 2024 men's team,” said Rionny, Sunday (18/2/2024).

According to him, BATC is important for training players' mentality, especially for young players. “Players learn not to be afraid as long as their guts are good,” he said.

According to Rionny, the results at BATC 2024 can be an illustration for facing the competition for the Thomas and Uber Cup which will take place in Chengdu, China, April 28 to May 5.

Rionny hopes that the self-confidence and courage that exists in every young athlete who takes part in this championship can continue to be nurtured and go hand in hand with the discipline and hard training that they continue to undergo.

“No matter how good the training is, if you don't dare, it's useless. “Apart from practicing diligently, players also need to fight harder and be braver on the field,” said Rionny.

“The players also have to train harder and continue to improve their fighting power on the field. “Players must be braver, not afraid and have guts,” he added.

If you look at each team, according to Rionny, the two men's doubles, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, were able to prove themselves as the foundation of the team when facing the Chinese team in the BATC 2024 quarter-finals.

“In general, in the quarter-finals against China, the men's doubles sector was dominant. “After failing to score points against Korea, the men's doubles were able to recover and were able to contribute two points,” said Rionny.

Meanwhile, in the singles sector, Rionny believes that Indonesian players still lack the flying hours and experience of Chinese representatives.
