Kapolri: President’s Call to Avoid Backflow Has Enough Impact

National Police Chief Gen. Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo said President Jokowi’s appeal to the public to avoid peak traffic flows on Monday (24/4/2023) and Tuesday (25/4/2023) had quite an impact. This appeal has reduced the number of people who travel back and forth to Eid 2023.

According to the National Police Chief Listyo Sigit, after the announcement was made, there has been at least a 13 percent decrease in the number of travelers who have made return trips until now.

“The government’s efforts by announcing to avoid or choosing not to return to homecoming on April 24-25, which is predicted to be the peak of the return flow, we see from the results of the meeting that this appeal has had quite an impact; because in the calculation earlier there was a decrease of 13 percent from the original figure. ,” said Listyo Sigit quoted from Antara, Wednesday (26/4/2023).

With this policy, said National Police Chief Listyo Sigit, there is concern that there will be a surge in the volume of vehicles during the return flow, because travelers can return to Jakarta and its surrounding areas not simultaneously or at the same time.

“So, the peak of reverse flow is of course a concern for us, because if all 203,000 go down, of course conditions will be very congested, even if we use one way or other engineering there will still be traffic jams,” he explained.

Therefore, continued the Chief of Police, with the government’s strategies and efforts regarding the return flow of Eid 2023, the community can avoid potential traffic jams.
