United Kingdom doubles financial support to Ukraine, Britain provides another 1.3 billion pounds (more than 1.5 billion euros) in military aid and aid to Ukraine. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced this on Saturday. The British government is almost doubling its support for Kyiv.

It would be the largest financial contribution of the British to a conflict since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The United Kingdom is one of Kyiv’s most important allies. The country previously sent anti-tank missiles, air defense weapons and other weapons to help Ukraine in the fight against President Vladimir Putin’s Russian forces that invaded in late February. “Putin’s brutal attack is not only causing untold devastation in Ukraine, it is also threatening peace and security across Europe,” Johnson said in a statement.

The new British commitment comes on the eve of a G7 meeting.

The leaders of the club of the seven main industrialized Western countries – Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States – will discuss the situation in his country with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday during a virtual meeting.
