Afraid of conceding many goals, Jokowi is anxious to watch Indonesia vs Argentina

– President Joko Widodo or Jokowi admitted that he felt nervous while watching the FIFA Matchday match between the Indonesia vs Argentina national team at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, Monday (19/6/2023) evening.

In this match, Indonesia only lost 0-2 when meeting Argentina. Even though they lost, Indonesia gave extraordinary resistance and deserves praise.

“In the early rounds, yes. I was afraid that our national team would concede a lot. And it turns out they can play well. That’s good,” said Jokowi after the match in the SUGBK VVIP Room.

“Our national team is playing very well. Indonesian players must work hard in this match. Our players are extraordinary,” Jokowi added.

According to him, the Argentina national team is ranked first in FIFA, while Indonesia is ranked 149th. However, Indonesia was able to keep up and only conceded two goals.

“We hope this result will be the beginning of the revival of Indonesian football,” he said firmly.

Jokowi hopes that the Indonesian National Team can often meet with countries that have good rankings. As before with Palestine (93rd FIFA ranking), Indonesia was able to hold a draw with a score of 0-0.

This means, continued Jokowi, that the match provided a great experience for the Indonesian National Team players. At the start of the match, Garuda’s squad experienced nervousness and in the second half began to balance. For him, this is a good thing as experience and as material for further evaluation.

“I hope that the next PSSI can bring in teams or countries from outside, so that with more competition, our experience will be more mature,” said Jokowi.
