AJC 2023: Three Indonesian Representatives Advance to Top 32

– Three Indonesian representatives, women’s doubles Ariella Naqiyyah/Rachel Agnesia Sabatini and Velisha Christina/Bernadine Anindya Wardana, and men’s singles Bodhi Ratana Teja Gotama advanced to the last 32 of the Badminton Asia Junior Championship (AJC) 2023, Wednesday (12) /7/2023).

Appearing at the Amongraga Sports Hall, Yogyakarta, the Ariella/Rachel pair won with a score of 21-12, 21-7 over the United Arab Emirates women’s doubles, Taabi Khan/Mysha Omer Khan.

The victory achieved by Ariella/Rachel did not make the two couples satisfied. Runner up the Pembangunan Jaya Junior International Challenge 2022 tournament is determined to perform even better considering the prestigious tournament it is facing.

“We don’t want to be satisfied with the results in this round. We both want to play more consistently in the future,” said Naqiyyah.

“It feels good to be playing here. I am grateful to be able to play and given the victory in this match,” Rachel added as quoted PBSI.

Ariella Naqiyyah/Rachel Agnesia Sabatini’s slick move was also followed by Velisha Christina/Bernadine Anindya Wardana.

Velisha/Bernadine advanced to the next round after overcoming the resistance from Malaysian representatives, Chan Wee Tse/Vannee Gobi with a score of 21-10, 21-16.

In this match, Velisha/Bernadine tried to adapt quickly to the competition arena. Both of them do this to be able to implement the desired strategy.

“We are still adjusting to the field here. Slowly we have started to unite by being able to implement the strategy we want into the game,” said Bernadine.

“The wind conditions here are still the same. We try to be even better and will give our best in every match,” said Velisha.

This victory made Velisha Christina/Bernadine Anindya Wardana face India’s representative, Radhika Sharma/Tanvi Sharma. The Indian women’s doubles qualify directly for the round of 32 after getting a bye in the first round.
