AS Monaco vs PSV – PSV takes on AS Monaco in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. That is what the draw in the Swiss Nyon on Monday showed.

PSV starts with an away game in Monaco on 2 or 3 August. The return will follow on August 9 in the Philips Stadium. Last season, PSV played in the group stage of the Europa League twice against the Monegasques. In front of their own audience they lost 1-2 and the away game ended in a goalless draw.

PSV enjoyed a protected status in the draw and therefore avoided the Benfica of coach Roger Schmidt, losing Europa League finalist Rangers of coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Fenerbahçe or Dynamo Kyiv.

Should PSV manage to deal with AS Monaco, there will be one more hurdle to overcome to reach the group stage of the Champions League for the first time since 2018. In the event of a defeat, europa league football remains for the team of coach Ruud van Nistelrooij.

Later on Monday (14:00) the draw for the third qualifying round of the Conference League will also take place. FC Twente is going in the tube, but there is a good chance that the team of coach Ron Jans does not yet know who the opponent is after the draw. The matches in the second preliminary round still have to be played.
