Erick Thohir: Tickets for Indonesia vs Argentina are more booming than the Coldplay concert

Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir stated that ticket sales for the FIFA Matchday event between the Indonesian vs Argentina national team on June 19 will be more booming than the Coldplay concert.

“As for ticketing, how come I’m sure it’s more booming than Coldplay, yesterday I saw it on social media, so I wasn’t the one talking. If Coldplay can come in a few years, but if the Argentine team goes to Indonesia it is not certain, once every 20-30 years, it means that this is a historic match,” said Erick Thohir, Wednesday (24/5/2023) at the main Gelora Bung Karno building.

The general chairman of PSSI was reluctant to answer how much the budget was spent for the FIFA Matchday match with Argentina. According to him, Indonesia must get used to PSSI being able to manage the budget professionally.

“Of course, when asked about the budget, why does it seem as if PSSI is poor all the time? We have to get used to it that PSSI is professional in managing the budget,” said Erick Thohir.

The general chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) entrusts the Argentine national team to bring their best players to compete with the Indonesian National Team in the Fifa Matchday event in June. He also stated that to face that match the Indonesian National Team would also prepare well.

“I’m sure Argentina coming to Indonesia really brings the best team with us. We will also prepare our best team, because playing with Argentina is not just playing but we also learn and we also improve our mentality,” said Erick Thohir.

Nevertheless, Erick reminded Indonesian players not to be nervous about facing a series of Argentinian star players in Jakarta, because Indonesia had proven it through the 2023 SEA Games match against the Thai team and won the title.

“All this time, the Indonesian team has been playing with Vietnam nervous and Thailand nervous, the proof was yesterday’s SEA Games, we can prove it, but why do we say we can’t? not only practicing but raising our morale as the Indonesian nation,” said the man who is also the Minister of BUMN.

For your information, the Indonesian national team will play two matches on the June 2023 FIFA Matchday. Before facing Argentina on June 19, 2023, the Indonesian national team will meet Palestine on June 14, 2023.
