Marquez and Bagnaia open their voices after the collision at the Portuguese MotoGP

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Gresini Racing racers Marc Marquez and Francesco 'Pecco' Bagnaia opened their voices about the collision incident at the 2024 Portugal MotoGP at the Algarve International Circuit, Portimao, Sunday (24/3/2024).

In the 25 lap race at the Portuguese MotoGP, both of them fell on the 23rd lap during the duel for fifth position.

During the race, Marquez, who was in sixth position, managed to overtake Bagnaia at the corner, but the Italian racer tried to take over fifth again by entering from the inside.

Marquez, the racer from Spain, tried to close the lane he wanted to use, while Bagnaia kept trying to get in so the two of them bumped into each other and ended up both slipping.

“Pecco is trying to maintain his position, perhaps with a little optimism. “The result is still a result that no one expected,” said Marquez, Monday (25/3/2024).

The collision was investigated by MotoGP. However, after completing the investigation, MotoGP decided the incident was a racing incident so no further action was taken.

“A racing incident that none of us wanted. “We go home without points, but after a positive weekend where we found continuity and speed,” said Marquez.

Meanwhile, Bagnaia wanted to quickly forget about the incident, although he did not deny that he was angry because he failed to get points in the Portugal race session.

“It's something that makes me angry. But this incident is normal. This is an incident in racing. We have to forget about it immediately,” said Bagnaia.

“When Marc overtook me, he went wide. When a rival drives in front of you and then goes wide, what do you do? Try to overtake him again to get more points?” he said.

According to him, from his point of view, it was not a risky move.

The defending champion felt disappointed with what he got in the MotoGP series in Portugal after failing to finish in the race session and only getting six points thanks to finishing in fourth position in the sprint session, Saturday (23/3/2024).

“We know that there are still 38 races, the world championship is still very long,” he said.
