Failing to qualify for the semifinals of the 2023 Indonesia Open, Fajar Alfian admits that Indian doubles are better

– Indonesian men’s doubles pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto was forced to leave the 2023 Indonesia Open, after being defeated by Indian men’s doubles Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty in the quarter-finals, Friday (16/6/2023).

The world number one Indonesian men’s doubles has actually received great support from the supporters at Istora Senayan. Alas, the opponent’s game was indeed better which resulted in them losing two straight games 13-21, 13-21.

Fajar Alfian revealed that his opponent played very well and was very solid, which made the Indonesian pair’s game seem helpless even though they had tried various patterns.

“In this match, the opponent played very well. We admit that we lost from all patterns of play, and we have also tried several patterns of play from defense to attack, indeed they were very good today,” said Fajar Alfian after the match, Friday (16/2023).

Even though he had to leave and bury his dream of winning the inaugural Indonesia Open title, Fajar was grateful to have passed the match unscathed.

With this result, Fajar/Rian failed to continue their positive trend while appearing at the BWF Super 1000 tournament. Indonesia itself still leaves two representatives in the semifinals which will be held on Saturday (17/6/2023). The two representatives are men’s singles Anthony Sinisuka Ginting who will face China’s singles, Li Shi Feng, and men’s doubles Pramudya Kusumawardana / Yeremia Rambitan who will face world champions from Malaysia, Aaron Chia / Soh Wooi Yik.
