Including JIS, PSSI proposes 8 stadiums for the U-17 World Cup venue

– PSSI will propose four to eight stadiums as potential venues for the 2023 U-17 World Cup. This was conveyed by Erick Thohir after holding a coordination meeting with Menpora Dito Ariotedjo.

Erick Thohir said the stadiums being prepared included those that had previously passed FIFA’s verification for the 2023 U-20 World Cup. Previously, the U-20 World Cup was canceled in Indonesia.

“According to the proposal, we will prioritize 4 to 8 fields,” said Erick Thohir at the Ministry of Youth and Sport Building, Friday (7/7/2023).

The six stadiums are Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (Jakarta), Jakabaring Stadium (Palembang), Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (Bandung), Manahan Stadium (Solo), Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (Surabaya), and Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium (Bali). ). These six stadiums are priority venues for the 2023 U-17 World Cup.

However, said Erick, the condition of the six fields that had previously passed was different this time. Therefore, FIFA will later conduct another review of the 6 stadiums.

The other stadium is the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS). However, JIS, which is located in North Jakarta, is not yet of international standard, so the government will make improvements.

Meanwhile, one other stadium was not disclosed by Erick Thohir, but it is located near the capital.

“Indeed, we already have 6 fields that have passed the previous qualifications, we will add 2 more. We already know which one to add, no need to ask. There are already 2, right? near Jakarta,” said Erick Thohir.

The SOE Minister also said that FIFA would come and select stadiums for the 2023 U17 World Cup venue candidates. However, FIFA’s schedule for Indonesia is still uncertain.

Indonesia was appointed as the host of the 2023 U17 World Cup after FIFA revoked Peru’s hosting status. The youth football party is scheduled to take place from 10 November to 2 December 2023.
