Regarding the U-17 World Cup, Erick Thohir and Menpora Immediately Approach Jokowi

– PSSI Chairman, Erick Thohir, said that the federation and Menpora Dito Ariotedjo will soon meet President Joko Widodo in a limited meeting (ratas) to discuss the 2023 U-17 World Cup.

Several things that will be discussed in the limited meeting with President Jokowi are the administrative process and the use of the state budget for the 2023 U-17 World Cup.

“Administrative processes are prioritized because in using the state budget there must be a process. Therefore, God willing, the minister has proposed to the president to have a discussion meeting for U-17 students next week,” said Erick Thohir at the Kemenpora Building, Jakarta , Friday (7/7/2023).

After the ratas, said Erick, a Presidential Decree will be issued up to the budget allocation for the 2023 World Cup. Later, the budget for the event will not be much different from the U20 World Cup which was previously canceled in Indonesia.

“Of course we together with the sports ministry above synchronized the budget, which is not much different from the U-20 (World Cup),” said the former president of Inter Milan.

Apart from that, the venue for the match is also being prepared by PSSI for the 2023 U-17 World Cup. Erick said that there were 8 stadiums proposed by PSSI to become potential venues for the 2023 U-17 World Cup.

The 2023 U-17 World Cup will be held in Indonesia from 10 November to 2 December 2023. Indonesia is hosting the youth tournament after Peru’s hosting status was revoked by FIFA.
