Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta awaits official offer from Manchester United for Andre Onana

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Manchester United opened talks with Inter Milan regarding Andre Onana last week. With the possible departure of David de Gea, the former Cameroon national team goalkeeper is likely to join Old Trafford.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio was in England last Monday (26/6/2023). The figure responsible for Inter Milan’s transfer activities met with MU representatives to discuss Onana’s transfer.

Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has confirmed the English club’s interest in the 27-year-old. However, he emphasized that a decision on a formal offer must be taken soon.

“Manchester United have expressed an interest in Onana, but it has to culminate in an offer or not,” Marotta told reporters.

“Then a careful assessment from us and the player will take over.”

Andre Onana moved to Inter Milan from Ajax in 2022. He excelled for the Italian giants in the 2022-2023 season, keeping 19 clean sheets in 41 appearances.

Onana became a star when Inter stepped into the Champions League final. The former Cameroon international kept eight clean sheets in 13 appearances in the competition, with Inter taking on Manchester City in Istanbul for the trophy.

Even though he couldn’t prevent Man City from winning 1-0 that night, Andre Onana’s appearance has given rise to new speculation about his future.
