Intrigued, Fajar/Rian looks forward to the duel against Liang/Wang at BAC 2024

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Indonesian men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto are looking forward to a duel against the host's mainstay Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Asian Badminton Championships or BAC in Ningbo, China, Friday (12/4/2024).

“Tomorrow against Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang, that is a match I am really looking forward to. In the last few meetings, we lost (to them). “The opponents are a young couple who look good,” said Fajar, Thursday (12/4/2024).

Fajar/Rian last met the Liang/Wang pair in the quarter-finals of the BWF Super 1000 Malaysia Open 2024 tournament.

“We haven't seen them for a long time. The last time was at the Malaysia Open 2024, early January. But after that the opponent experienced poor results. We are certainly curious because we lost in the last few meetings. “Now we want to face them,” said Fajar Alfian.

Fajar/Rian, who is seeded sixth in the 2024 BAC, said that the upcoming match will also be used as a simulation event ahead of the Thomas Cup and the Paris Olympics.

Even though they are looking forward to tomorrow's match, Fajar/Rian are determined to prepare well and anticipate other factors such as the support of the home crowd.

“Of course the opponent will appear with high motivation. As host representatives, they will definitely be supported by the audience. “Therefore, what must be prepared is not only technique, but most importantly mental matters,” said Rian Ardianto.

Fajar/Rian advanced to the last eight of BAC 2024 after defeating Taiwanese representatives Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han in the last 16 with a score of 21-17, 21-16.

“We went into competition with a strategy, namely we had to get ahead in the game ahead. This is to reduce the opponent's game which relies on speed and power. “We suppressed our opponent's advantage by first taking the initiative to play more forward,” said Fajar.

Indonesia placed four representatives in the quarter-finals of BAC 2024. Apart from Fajar/Rian, there were men's singles Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie, and women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
