Liverpool Collapse Against Everton, Klopp Asks Nunez to Be Quiet

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp looked angry with striker Darwin Nunez following his team's 0-2 defeat when they met Everton, at Goodison Park Stadium, Thursday (24/4/2024) early morning WIB.

This was Everton's first Merseyside derby win at home since 2010.

While the Everton players were greeted by their supporters, Klopp was seen asking Nunez to be quiet and not complain about this defeat. After the match, the striker from Uruguay seemed to start complaining about something to Klopp.

Previously, this former Benfica player also gave a signal to the referee about this. However, the German coach did not respond.

Klopp responded to Nunez's protest against the match officials by raising his finger and putting it to his mouth. A signal to Nunez to be quiet.

Before being scolded by his coach, Nunez was seen sarcastically clapping his hands at the referee and officials after the long whistle sounded. That was just one of several bad points for Liverpool in this match.

In contrast, Everton enjoyed a great evening. Not only did they record their first home win against Liverpool in over a decade, however The Toffees also made a huge leap to survive relegation.

Sean Dyche's men are eight points clear of the relegation zone with just four games left of the season. That means the certainty of their survival from relegation can be determined this weekend.

This defeat is clearly a major blow for Liverpool, who are trying to win the Premier League title. They are in second place with a three-point gap with leaders Arsenal. Man City is in third place with a collection of 73 points. However, Pep Guardiola's troops have only played 32 matches, while Arsenal and Liverpool have appeared 34 times.

Everton's winning goal in the match against Liverpool was scored by Jarrad Brainthwaite. Sean Dyche's team made it 2-0 thanks to striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin's header.

Speaking after the match, Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp admitted his team had not played well enough and would need a miracle to win the league title.

“We let it be the game Everton wanted, two goals from set pieces. “They are very strong at set pieces,” said Klopp.
