“They have to be able to arrange when to take part in tournaments, they don’t need to take part. Look at (Viktor) Axelsen, join tournament one, he wins, then he leaves for the next tournament. Why join, it’s better to go home, rest, practice, join another tournament,” said the gold medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

“So you come to a tournament sure you are fit and can win. Instead of participating in lots of tournaments it’s useless for what? First round, second round, what’s the point of losing. So between players, coaches, the team must calculate there. There is performance, when it goes up and when it goes down “So you can’t participate in all tournaments because we are chasing points. We are chasing champions, not points. If you win, points will automatically go up,” continued Taufik.
