Meta Wants to Lay Off More Employees, 10,000 Affected People Including Engineers

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Facebook’s parent company, Meta, will announce details about the new layoffs last Wednesday. This was part of months of downsizing and restructuring efforts.

The total number of employees who will be laid off by Meta is 10,000 people, amidst various waves of layoffs by technology companies.

To quote The Washington PostThursday (20/4/2023), in Meta’s internal memo obtained by this media, Meta’s Head of Human Resources, Lori Goler, wrote, the company will begin notifying employees in the technical team affected by this layoff.

Meta is also poised to announce a newly reorganized team and management hierarchy as the social media giant seeks to become more streamlined and efficient.

The employees affected by the layoffs include the team working on Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and divisions virtual reality Reality Labs.

In the memo, Goler advised that some employees should not come to the office unless it is essential to their role or title. Layoff decisions are made by senior leaders as part of a wider restructuring effort.

“This will be a difficult time as we say goodbye to the friends and colleagues who have contributed so much to Meta,” said Goler.

“It will take time for everyone, for those who left and for those who have stayed, to process tomorrow’s news and I know the team will be showing up for one another with love, support and care,” said Goler.
