Nerazzurri Saved 2 Penalties, This is Jan Oblak's Comment

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, Jan Oblak, was grateful for his ability to save two penalty kicks as his team beat Inter Milan with a score of 2-1 (2-2 on aggregate and 3-2 on penalties), taking them through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League , Thursday (14/3/2024) early morning WIB.

Although, Nerazzurri, nicknamed Inter, took a 1-0 lead in the first half through a goal from Federico Dimarco, but counter goals from Antoine Griezmann and Memphis Depay brought Atletico level. Even though the match continued into extra time, no additional goals were scored, so the winner was determined through a penalty shootout.

“I believe that penalties are like a lottery. Today I felt lucky to be able to block two kicks,” said Jan Oblak, who managed to save penalties from Alexis Sanchez and Davy Klaassen.

“Stopping a penalty is not an easy thing. Sometimes it looks simple from the outside, but it's actually very difficult,” he added as reported by AFPThursday (14/2/2024).

“I'm very happy for the team, I think we performed very well,” added the Slovenian goalkeeper. “We played well. Maybe in the last month, we were not in the best condition, but we were still able to give our best,” he added.

Inter Milan coach, Simone Inzaghi, admitted that his team had difficulty developing the game, even apparently allowing Atletico a moment to turn things around.

With this defeat, Inter Milan, who were finalists in the Champions League last season, must focus on the Italian League. Simone Inzaghi's troops are approaching the title scudetto 20th with a 16 point lead over AC Milan who is in second place.
