Persebaya Calculates Losses Due to Postponement of League 1 Continuation

Surabaya, Beritasatu.com – The Persebaya Surabaya organizing committee (Panpel) will immediately evaluate the losses arising from the postponement of the 31st week of the 2023/2024 League 1 match.

Persebaya should host Dewa United at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya on Monday (1/4/2024).

“We are still in the process of calculating the losses due to this sudden cancellation. Later, we will convey it to management,” said Chairman of the Persebaya Surabaya Panpel Committee, Ram Surahman, quoted from Between, Sunday (31/3/3024).

He also added that this matter would be brought to management for further evaluation.

“We will also report to management to consider whether it is necessary to submit a loss claim to PT LIB as the operator,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Media Officer of Persebaya Surabaya announced via short message that all events scheduled at the GBT Stadium in Surabaya from March 31 to April 1 will be canceled as a result of the match postponement.

Previously, on Sunday (31/3/2024), it was scheduled to hold official training and a press conference for the two teams, namely Persebaya and Dewa United. This activity is planned to take place from 16.30 to 20.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, the 31st match between Persebaya Surabaya and Dewa United, which was originally scheduled for Monday (1/4/2024), will be held at 20.30 WIB.

The decision to postpone the 31st week of the 2023/2024 Liga 1 competition was taken by PSSI and the League operator, PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB), for reasons related to the interests of the U-23 national team which will compete in the U-23 Asian Cup on April 15 until May 3, or until completion.

PSSI's official letter number 1367/UDN/815/III-2024 regarding the postponement of Liga 1 2023/2024 dated March 30 confirmed this decision. This decision refers to the results of the emergency meeting of the PSSI Executive Committee on Saturday (30/3) and confirms that League 1 will continue after the U-23 Asian Cup is finished.

The 2023/2024 Liga 1 regular season has held 30 match weeks and there are still four matches remaining. The top four teams in the regular phase will advance to the Championship Series to compete for the title. Currently, Borneo FC as the top of the standings has confirmed itself to qualify for the Championship Series.
