Rayo vs Barcelona: Fallen, Blaugrana Fails to Widen the Distance with Madrid

– Barcelona failed to widen the gap to 14 points with arch rivals Real Madrid after surprisingly losing, 1-2, at home to Rayo Vallecano, in the Spanish League continued, Thursday (27/4/2023) early morning WIB.

As for Rayo, this 11th victory brought Andoni Iraola’s team to sit in ninth place with 43 points. The team from Madrid is two points ahead of the occupants of 10th place, Girona.

The result at the Vallecas Stadium complemented the fall of the top two teams in the Spanish League standings in a midweek match after the day before, Real Madrid also surprisingly lost 2-4 at Girona.

Even though Barcelona dominated possession, Rayo actually managed to score first through Alvaro Garcia’s action in the 39th minute. This 30-year-old striker successfully broke into Ter Stegen’s goal using striker Camello’s bait. The 1-0 score for the hosts lasted until the first half was over.

When the second half has been running for eight minutes, Rayo doubled the advantage. This time the goal was scored by left back Francisco Garcia. He managed to snatch the ball from De Jong and then fired a left footed shot which broke into the visitors’ goal.
