SEA Games 2023, Indonesia vs Timor Leste: Garuda Nusantara Never Underestimates Opponents

– The Indonesian U-22 national team will play the third match in Group A of the 2023 SEA Games against Timor Leste at the Olympic Stadium, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Sunday (7/5/2023) at 16.00 WIB.

The two wins achieved by beating the Philippines 3-0 and winning 5-0 over Myanmar have made Indonesia currently top of Group A with six points.

Even though they were perfect in the opening two matches, the Garuda Nusantara squad was asked not to get too cocky.

“You can’t take it for granted, Timor Leste just defeated the Philippines and we shouldn’t talk about war, but actually it hasn’t happened yet, we are just fighting now,” PSSI chairman Erick Thohir was quoted as saying on PSSI’s official website, Saturday (6/5/2023).

According to Erik, it’s too early to be complacent with the performances and results so far.

“It’s still too early, we did win the first two games, but in the future don’t look bad,” he said.

“Thank God, in these two matches the confidence to win and togetherness is very good, they have the will, when within a certain distance they immediately kick the ball, that’s what we hope for,” said Erick.

Timor Leste is not to be underestimated. After losing 0-4 to Cambodia and losing 0-1 to Myanmar, Timor Leste came back by beating the Philippines 3-0.
