Shopee Becomes the First Official Partner of the Asean Club Championship with the Name Shopee Cup™

Singapore, Beritasatu.com – Shopee becomes ASEAN's first official partner Club Championship, which is named Shopee Cup™. Shopee and ASEAN collaboration Football Federation or the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) was inaugurated with the AFF's exclusive commercial partners, namely SPORTFIVE, and Shopee, which is the AFF's organizing partner for other major ASEAN level championships.

Shopee Cup™, the first official regional club tournament in Southeast Asia, will crown an ASEAN Club Champion every year, driven by passion and enthusiasm for football clubs in one of the largest consumer markets in the world and the region Shopee is located in. The tournament will be played in a league format with qualifying rounds play-offs and the group phase, where 14 well-known clubs in ASEAN will compete in 40 matches. In line with regional efforts to follow the European competition calendar, the Shopee Cup™ will kick off this year on July 17 and run until May 21, 2025.

Shopee Chief Commercial Officer Zhou Jun Jie said, Shopee Cup™ offers an opportunity for Shopee to connect with fans throughout the Southeast Asia region and interact more closely with the younger generation.

Meanwhile, for SPORTFIVE, which has been at the center of many important achievements in Asian football for 30 years, this partnership with Shopee is the most transformative. With the rise of ASEAN as the fifth largest economy in the world in recent decades, combined with the high passion of ASEAN football fans, who are now blended together in the modern digital landscape, this is a very important event for the world of sport.

The Shopee Cup™ will feature the National League champion and Cup winner (or runner-up in certain situations) from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam (representing two teams per country), as well as the Philippines and Singapore (representing one team per country). National League champions Brunei, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar will compete for two places in the Group Phase of the tournament during the qualifying round play-offs.

The 12 clubs that have met the requirements will be drawn into two groups for the group phase with an official draw (official draw). The 30 group phase matches will be played on a home or away basis over five match days. The teams ranked first and second from each group at the end of the group phase will qualify for the semi-finals. The semifinals and final will be played in a home and away format.
