Teslas can now be bought with bitcoin, price of cryptocurrency rises
Teslas can now be bought with bitcoin, Tesla will accept payments in bitcoin from Wednesday, says founder and billionaire Elon Musk on Twitter. In February, it was already announced that the company has invested 1.5 billion dollars (almost 1.3 billion euros) in the cryptocurrency to make the payments possible.
“You can now buy a Tesla with bitcoin,” Musk said on Twitter. On tesla’s website, a payment button has been added for American customers with which they can pay with the cryptocurrency.
For customers from other countries, this will be possible later this year.
Since Musk’s announcement, the price of bitcoin has risen slightly. At 7:30 a.m., 1 bitcoin was still worth about $54,000 and at 8:15 a.m. about $55,500.
After Tesla’s announcement in February, the price of the bitcoin rose to a record high. Other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum and XRP hitchhiked on the rise.
