The Fate of the Watubelah Stadium, It Has Been Stagnant for Years and Becomes a Place for Alcohol

– Projects to build large stadiums in Indonesia have been carried out by the government in recent years, but some of them have stalled. One of them is the Watubelah Stadium which is located in Sumber District, Cirebon Regency, West Java.

The Watubelah Stadium is a project built by the Cirebon Regency Government and the West Java Provincial Government. Its construction started in mid-2012 and should be completed in 2015.

However, until Sunday (9/7/2023), the sports field was still not finished. Throughout the stadium area, grass as high as 1 meter thrives.

In another angle, the security fence at the main gate of the Watubelah Stadium appears to have been broken. Several unauthorized residents were seen entering and leaving the stadium.

Muhammad Rizki (38), a local resident, said that this stadium should be a center for sports activities for Cirebon Regency residents. Rizki regrets that this place is used for negative activities by irresponsible community groups, ranging from drinking parties to vandalism.

Based on the information collected, the construction of the Watubelah Stadium has spent a budget of IDR 228.4 billion.
