Previously, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) healthcare organization, Al Jalila Foundation, revealed that it had been granted permission to accept digital money and that sympathizers could now donate via cryptocurrency.
By accepting crypto, Al Jalila Foundation has become one of the first non-profit organizations from the UAE to do so. In a recently released statement, the Al Jalila Foundation also said it had partnered with an unnamed “leading cryptocurrency platform”.
Commenting on the move to expand the organization’s donation channels, the CEO of the foundation, Abdulkareem Sultan Al Olama, said that as a philanthropic organization, we rely on charitable donations and are always looking for innovative ways to expand the donation channels for the convenience and comfort of donors from all over the world.
“Therefore, as an emerging source of fundraising, providing an opportunity for more and more crypto users around the world to donate to the Al Jalila Foundation for causes that interest them is a win-win solution for us as a foundation and the donor community,” Olama said. , quoted from Bitcoin.com, Friday, September 30, 2022.
Olama also praised the decision which he said made the Al Jalila Foundation the “first” healthcare charity in the country to accept donations in cryptocurrency and which bridged the gap between physical and digital currencies.
With the decision to accept cryptocurrencies, the Al Jalila Foundation joins other leading charitable organizations such as Save the Children, which chose the Cardano Foundation as its partner.
