8 Indonesian Representatives Appear in the Top 16 of the Taipei Open, Here’s the Schedule

– Eight Indonesian representatives will appear in the round of 16 of the Taipei Open 2023 badminton championship today, Thursday (22/3/2023), at the Tian-Mu Arena, Taipei, Taiwan.

The eight representatives are Tommy Sugiarto, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, Putri Kusuma Wardani, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, Jafar Hidayatullah/Aisyah Salsabila Putri Pranata, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, and two doubles daughters Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Allessya Rose and Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi.

Men’s singles, Tommy Sugiarto will meet the third seed from India Prannoy HS. The two had three times and Tommy always lost. Their last meeting occurred at the 2019 New Zealand Open. At that time Prannoy won 21-14 and 21-12.

While Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo will be tested by Leong Jun Hao from Malaysia. The two have met once and won by Leong. The meeting took place at the 2019 Malaysia International Challenge. Leong won with a score of 21-14 and 21-15.

In the women’s singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani will meet the host’s representative, Huang Ching Ping. These two players had never met before.

The big 16 will be colored by duels between Indonesia in mixed doubles. Jafar Hidayatullah/Aisyah Salsabila Putri Pranata will challenge Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari. The two representatives of Merah Putih have never met before in an official championship event.

The mixed doubles of Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati were challenged by the views of the hosts who qualified from Tseng Min Hao/Hsieh Pei Shan. They had never met before either.

Women’s doubles Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Allessya Rose meet South Korean pair fifth seeds Lee Yu Lim/Shin Seung Chan. The two doubles have also never met before.

Another Indonesian doubles. Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi will meet Cheng Yu-Pei/Sun Wen Pei from Taiwan. The two couples have never met before either.

The round of 16 of the Super 300 level championship with a total prize pool of US$ 210,000 will be held on four courts at the Tian-Mu Arena. On fields 1 and 2 the first match will be held starting at 12.00 Taipei time or 11.00 WIB. While the matches on fields 3 and 4 will start at 12.10 or 11.10 WIB.
