Arsenal and Man City Dominate the Premier League Best Nominee List
– The two clubs who are at the top of the table, Manchester City and Arsenal, dominate the list of nominees for the award as the best this season in the Premier League.
Both clubs have played their part in a thrilling title race, which looks set to go the Treble-chasing Citizens’ way. After being left behind, Man City has now overtaken the London club and will win the Premier League title if they beat Chelsea on Sunday (21/5/2023).
This award will select the Player, Manager and Young Player of the Season.
Record-breaking goalscorer Erling Haaland was nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season award, as was fellow midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.
The Man City duo join Arsenal pair Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka, who have been involved in more than 20 goals each.
Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford is also on the shortlist. Likewise, Tottenham goalscorer Harry Kane and Newcastle right-back Kieran Trippier also made the shortlist.
Surprisingly Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was not included in the nominee list. The Egyptian has scored 19 goals this season, more than Rashford, Odegaard and Saka.
Young Player of the Season
Arsenal captain Odegaard, Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have all been nominated for the Young Player of the Season award.
Current title holder Phil Foden is out of the running this year, but his Citizens teammate Haaland is also in the running. Haaland is currently only 22 years old.
The Norwegian striker and Gunners trio are joined by Brighton duo Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, as well as Newcastle pair Sven Botman and Alexander Isak.
