Atalanta More Favored Against Juventus in Bergamo
Host Atalanta are more favored to win the match when they host Juventus in the Italian Serie A League match, Week 34 in Bergamo, Sunday (7/5/2023) this afternoon.
Even if they are able to win over the host, Juventus will certainly shift Lazio’s position in second place in the standings.
Currently Juve are in third place (63 points) only one point away from Lazio. With Napoli crowned the Scudetto, the battle for the standings is in the top four.
Both Juventus, who are currently in third place, and Atalanta in sixth position (58), are both aiming to finish the season in the top four as well as enter the Champions League zone.
With five games remaining at the end of the season, the host’s option to reach the top four targets must start with gaining maximum points.
Juventus have just ended a three-match winless streak in Serie A, after beating Lecce 2-1 on 3 May.
On the other hand, Atalanta is in their best form after recording three wins in their last two weeks.
With the dream of winning a trophy in the Coppa Italia over, Juventus’ focus is now on the Europa League to be able to hold the cup at the end of this season. Apart from that, setting a target of being in the top four of the Serie A standings, so that you can stay in the Champions League zone.
Max Allegri will be bothered to ensure the fitness of his players. Remembering that after the match against Atalatanta, Juve must prepare to face Sevilla in the Europa League semifinals next Friday.
Juventus also cannot be complacent with match statistics where they have only lost once in the last 17 matches in Serie A against Atalanta in Bergamo.
Team Condition
Juventus were unable to play Mattia De Sciglio due to a serious knee injury in midweek, and Leandro Paredes had to serve suspension. As such, Juventus will make at least two changes to their starting lineup at the Gewiss Stadium.
On the Bergamo side, after scoring Atalanta’s third goal against Spezia, Luis Muriel may start this Sunday. Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund is still hampered by a groin injury he suffered in the warm-up last Wednesday.
Muriel has met Juventus 17 times in the league without scoring a single goal, compatriot Duvan Zapata has scored six goals against Juventus since 2013. They could be paired again, as top scorer Ademola Lookman is still plagued by a thigh problem.
Jose Luis Palomino will also be out through injury, so Gian Piero Gasperini’s back three could remain unchanged, Dutch duo Teun Koopmeiners and Marten de Roon will run the home engine room.
