Champion of BAC 2023, Ginting Still Aims for Many Champion Targets

– Indonesian men’s singles, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, emphasized that he still has many targets despite having successfully won the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) 2023, Sunday (30/4/2023).

The second ranked badminton player became the champion after defeating Singapore’s representative, Loh Kean Yew, with a score of 21-12 and 21-8. Ginting only needed 28 minutes to secure the title in Dubai.

Ginting did appear dominant over Loh in this match. The pressure he put on made it difficult for Loh to develop the game. it’s no wonder that Ginting has a landslide advantage.

This victory made Ginting improve his winning streak over Loh to 4-2. The two badminton players have met six times. Now Ginting has beaten the world’s seventh ranked men’s singles four times. These four wins were achieved in their last four meetings.

“I’m very grateful that I was able to play well this week, to be able to enjoy the match and be calm on the court,” said Ginting after the match.

He called this success one of his best achievements. “Asian titles are big too. Hopefully from here we can build more confidence, be even more motivated in the following matches,” added the athlete who was born in Cimahi, West Java.

“In the future I still have many targets and titles that I want to achieve. But I want to come back from here enjoy first, one to two days, rest before going back to preparations for the Sudirman Cup,” said Ginting again.

The 26-year-old badminton player revealed that in the final match Loh Kean Yew looked a bit confused. Rate shuttlecock The speed was so tight that the Singapore representative couldn’t do much. Ginting’s attack made Loh unable to get out of the pressure. Meanwhile, Ginting focused on minimizing his own mistakes.

“From the start of the tournament I did limit expectations, I didn’t want to overdo it. Expectations were definitely there but I didn’t want to overdo it. It might look less expressive on the court, but that helped me to be calmer and able to control everything,” said the Singapore Open 2022 champion.

“This title is for the men’s singles team who have supported each other, both on and off the field. Coaches, Bang Aboy (Irwansyah), Koh Harry (Hartono) and physical trainers too. Don’t forget PBSI and family,” Ginting said.
