Chelsea Soon Inaugurate Pochettino As New Coach
Chelsea are reportedly set to confirm Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment as the team’s new coach this weekend.
For more than a week and a half, there has been much speculation that the new coach who will take over at Stamford Bridge will be Pochettino.
According to 90min, the club’s owners have not considered a name other than Pochettino since the Argentinian impressed early on in the selection process. Chelsea are now said to be counting the days to be able to confirm the appointment of the 51-year-old coach.
Club officials are said to have held further discussions over the weekend. Now it remains to work out the small details that remain to be signed this weekend.
Pochettino is expected to be present when Chelsea face Arsenal, Wednesday (2/5/2023) in the morning.
If true, Pochettino is said to determine which players will be allowed to leave Chelsea in the summer.
Massive cutbacks had to be made to reduce the number of players and improve Chelsea’s standing with FFP. This was as a result of a recently announced £121 million loss and an outlay of over £600 million across two transfer windows.
In recent days, Trevoh Chalobah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have been linked with Inter Milan. Meanwhile, Mateo Kovacic is said to be ready to leave for a new challenge. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can also leave on a free transfer.
